HOW YOUR PARISH CAN HAVE A WEBSITE HERE
We are now able to design and host parish websites for Forward in Faith Registered Parishes here at www.fifparish.com.
The cost of having your own Parish Website hosted with Forward in Faith and with direct links form forwardinfaith.com is just £100 for up to 10 pages. This is a one-off charge and should be paid when your PCC makes the decision to have a website on www.fifparish.com. The address of your parish website will be:
www.fifparish.com/YourParishDedicationLocation (but all lower case) - e.g. www.fifparish.com/stjohnleamington
THE PROCESS
The FiF Webmaster will set up the templates for the pages on your Parish Website. You will have full editorial control and be responsible for entering the text and adding photographs. These pages can be updated easily by you using Page Publisher, an on-line page editor, which allows you to add/change both text and pictures. Full details about how to use Page Publisher will be found at: www.forwardinfaith.info/help. You must nominate one person to be the main email contact for your pages.
HOW TO START
Your Parish Website will have a banner similar to that at the top of this page with the FiF spinning globe top left, your parish name in the middle and FiFparish.com on the right. The colour of the banner is up to you as are the other colours used on your pages.
NAVIGATION MENU
You can chose the position of the Navigation Menu Bar - either along the top or down either side of your pages. Then you should chose the colour of your Menu Bar. You will find a list of web-safe colours by following the link above to the Help Pages and clicking on Web Colours.
You must also decide on the headings for the Menu Bar ... for example:
Welcome ... News ... Diary ... Service Times ... Directions ... Contact Us ...
You may decide to subdivide some of the menu titles. For example Events could have a side menu: Past Events - Next Event - Future Events. Start with a simple structure. More items can be added later. When you have made your decisions you should send your choices to the FiF Webmaster.
PAGE STRUCTURE
You may select a suitable or logo for your Website which should be sent to the FiF Webmaster as a JPG file. You may also chose the font for your website from a list supplied by the FiF Webmaster.
The layout of your Home Page - the first page of your Parish Pages - is up to you! This may be with one photograph and text as with St John’s Leamington Spa below the menu bar at the top (with the parish logo to the right of the menu bar). The layout is up to you.
Each page will have the same Menu structure, but you can chose a different the layout for each page.
The Directions page may include a Hybrid Map from Google Maps (providing a good satellite image of your area is available on Google Maps) which shows both a street map and a satellite image with the location clearly marked. This also gives the visitor the opportunity of expanding the map, as you will see if you visit www.fifparish.com/stjohnleamington. Full instructions about how to set this up will be supplied by the FiF Webmaster.
